History of Vastu Shastra:


Long ago, Lord Shiva and demon Andhakasura were fighting a pitch war. The war lasted five hundred days. The devil was defeated by Lord Shiva and the war ended. But due to work intensively carried out by Shiva in the battle, he was too sweaty. As a result, the droplets of his sweat formed a creature that looked like gods and Asuras when it sank on the ground. They approached Lord Brahma to seek assistance in getting rid of the demon born from Shiva's suddenness. 


The sweat-born demon was not anything but Andhakasour himself, Lord Brahma announced. Being born in that way made him very powerful and scary. Since the devil represented a serious threat to Gods and Asuras' life, Lord Brahma offered a reply to the distress of them. He ordered them on the earth to drop the devil. He said that the creature should be hurled from the sky down to the ground. 


In accordance with the order, the Gods and the Asuras held every leg and threw it down to the earth, where it plunged to the surface headlong. At the time Andhakasura was going northeast (Ishan Kon) as his legs were in the southwest direction (Naitravya Kon).
